Northstar puts the sound of the entire record under your hands. Shape the tone, control dynamics, add color, set the stereo image and bring the level home, seeing and hearing how each decision affects the mix. Nine processing sections follow the signal from input to output, with an EQ display, reference player and loudness meters alongside the controls, all in one window, where you can keep listening as you work.
Every section has its own power switch. Everything starts neutral, so put it last on your master, feed it peaks around −6 dBFS, and make the first move your music actually asks for. Maybe the low end needs a firmer relationship between kick and bass. Maybe the chorus needs more presence, or the loudest passage needs its top end settled down. Bring in what helps, leave the rest alone, and compare the result as you go.
