Parallel Minds have released Atavism, available at the intro price of $29.00, increasing to $39.00 after the promotion.
Atavism makes a pad out of the track it is put on. Put it on a loop, a stem or a full mix and turn one knob: the drums stop hitting, the chord keeps ringing, and what is left is a pad made of the track’s own harmony. Because the pad comes from the audio itself, it stays in key and follows every chord change, with nothing to program and nothing to trigger. It’s a spectral effect, not a reverb, a delay or a freeze, and nothing gets longer: the song keeps its length and its place on the timeline.
Features include:
- One knob, from the untouched track to a pad made of its longest-held notes
- The pad is made of the track, so it’s always in key and follows every chord change
- Pulsation: a slow, irregular swell that keeps a long bed moving
- Shimmer: the octave above, grown inside the pad so it stays in key
- Mix, always in time with the track, and two filters on the pad only (low cut and high cut)
- Eight factory presets, nine automatable parameters, MIDI learn on every knob
- Around 300 ms of latency, compensated by the DAW, and a Short mode (170 ms) for playing live through a send
- Full-featured demo: without a key, two seconds of silence at the end of every minute
