Applied Acoustics Systems ha mve releases AAS Player 2, available as a FREE download.
What’s New in Version 2?
- Overhauled User Interface & Visual Engine Display: Version 1 had a very basic, narrow, text-heavy layout. Version 2 introduces a completely redesigned, larger GUI that displays a visual image of the specific hardware-style engine or plugin (e.g., Chromaphone, Ultra Analog, Lounge Lizard) where each sound originates.
- Brand-New Search & Filtering Browser: The preset management was vastly upgraded. Version 2 introduces an advanced, dedicated browser featuring deep search functionality and filters (such as category and quality tags), making it much faster to parse through thousands of presets.
- Massively Expanded Starter Library: The free starter preset bank was drastically increased to over 650 sounds (contributed from across their entire sound pack catalog), whereas version 1 offered a much smaller selection.
- NKS Compatibility: Version 2 adds integration for Native Instruments’ NKS hardware standards, allowing seamless control from keyboards like the Komplete Kontrol series—something absent in the older iteration.
The AAS Player is a free, streamlined virtual instrument host designed to give you direct access to the rich universe of AAS sound design. Essentially, it acts as a centralized hub that allows you to play official AAS sound packs—created for instruments like Chromaphone, Ultra Analog, Strum GS-2, and String Studio—without needing to own the full underlying synth plugins.
It strips away complex parameter tweaking and focuses purely on what matters most: simplicity, immediacy, ease of use, and breathtaking sound quality. Plus, it comes loaded with a diverse collection of free starter presets (such as the Swatches compilation) straight out of the box, ensuring your library keeps growing and you always have fresh tones to work with.
Whether you want to build rich cinematic soundscapes, punchy hip-hop low ends, lush ambient pads, or organic acoustic textures, the AAS Player acts as your ultimate shortcut. Instead of getting bogged down in oscillators, filters, and envelope generators, the AAS Player hands you expertly crafted macro controls and performance parameters. This means you can focus entirely on composition and arrangement while relying on world-class presets crafted by renowned sound designers
AAS Player 2 is available to PC and Mac users (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX and stabdalone).
