A2D Sound have released Micro Squeeze, available as a FREE download.
A free one-knob loudness plugin, carved out of Squeeze. It learns the loudest part of your track, sets the knob for it, and shows you exactly what it added.
Hit A/B and hear what it does. Every example runs with Gain Match on, so Before and After peak in the same place and the difference is density, not volume.
The knob drives Squeeze’s detail-preserving clipper into its brickwall limiter. The clipper takes the first part of the push and shaves peaks without dulling the attack; further up, the limiter takes over.
A final clip stage sits at the end.
It listens for up to ten seconds and measures peak, RMS and loudness. Punchy material gets more of the clipper; dense material hands over to the limiter sooner. Then the needle sweeps to a starting point for your track.
With a free limiter you guess the threshold. Here you start from a reading of your own audio.
Gain Match holds the output peak where the input peak was. You hear the extra density without spending more headroom.
It matches peaks, not loudness, so the processed side still plays louder on average. For a strict A/B, match the two on a LUFS meter.
A live spectrogram flows through the window: your input on the left, the output on the right, with a red glow wherever loudness was added. Turn the knob and watch it spread.
No lookahead, so no delay to compensate. Leave it on while you track and mix.
At zero, with no LEARN, anything under the ceiling passes through untouched, bit for bit.
RESET returns the knob to zero, turns Gain Match off and clears the LEARN. Start over on the next section of the song.
Micro Squeeze is available to PC and Mac users (VST3 and AU).
