The Crow Hill Co. have released 100 Year Old Piano, available as a FREE download.
The Crow Hill Company received a 100-year-old John Brinsmead & Sons piano, donated by Dave Marris, and decided to record its unique, weathered sound immediately upon its arrival in Scotland.
Bogu and Emilia captured the instrument’s characterful, melancholic voice using multiple microphones, embracing its imperfections despite a professional tuner’s suggestion that it was not ready for sampling.
This project highlights the beauty of the piano’s aging, resulting in a distinct, slightly out-of-tune sound perfect for compositions requiring a sense of history and lived-in wear.

100 Year Old Piano is available to PC and Mac users (VST2, VST3, AU and AAX).
