Tone Empire Release BLACK Q IV

Tone Empire have released BLACK Q IV, available at the intro price of $29.00, increasing to $79.00 after the promotion.

The BLACK Q sound, rebuilt as a three-module unit: four musical bands with wider reach, five drive circuits from the original pair to new transformer and pentode stages, linear phase, mid/side, and an analyzer that slides out under the panel.

It is widely used by producers and mixing engineers to add weight, color, presence, and analog character to individual tracks (like vocals, drums, and bass) as well as the main mix bus.

Features include:

  • Tube & Transformer Saturation: It models distinct analog saturation paths. Iterations of the plugin feature multiple drive circuits (such as legacy transformer paths alongside newer options like steel core “Iron,” soft core “Nickel,” and pentode output stages) allowing you to go from clean, silky enhancement to heavy crunch.
  • 4-Band EQ with Extended Reach:
    • Low Band: Operates as a shelf (ranging from 50 to 200 Hz).
    • Mid & High Bands: Configured as overlapping bell filters, allowing you to tightly target frequencies.
    • Air Band: A high shelf extending up to 20 kHz for adding top-end sheen.
    • Includes an adjustable Low Cut filter (ranging from 30 to 80 Hz).
  • Advanced Processing Modes:
    • Linear Phase (LIN): Option to run the EQ in linear phase mode.
    • Mid/Side (M/S) Processing: Allows independent processing settings for the mid and side channels.
    • Drift Control: Simulates subtle component mismatches and thermal drift between left and right channels to emulate real analog hardware width and life.
    • Mix Control: Built-in parallel processing (dry/wet blend).
    • Auto Gain Match: Automatically matches output loudness to input loudness so you can judge tone accurately without volume bias.
  • User Interface & Analysis: Includes a slide-out “Scope” deck featuring real-time visual feedback with EQ curves and output spectrum analyzers.
