Aurora DSP Release Sirax

Aurora DSP have released Sirax, available at the intro price of $49.00, increasing to $99.00 after the promotion.

While traditional digital guitar processors spent decades copying physical amp chassis, modern heavy production demands a fundamental shift: software designed around digital signal flow rather than legacy hardware limits. Sirax embodies this design paradigm, integrating input staging, dynamic low-end management, and flexible cabinet modeling into a single, cohesive workflow for track-ready guitar tones.

1. Input Staging & Pre-Filtering

Before hitting the virtual preamp section, low frequencies must be strictly controlled to prevent tracking breakdown—especially when handling 7- and 8-string drop tunings:

  • Variable High-Pass Filtering: Eliminates unusable sub-bass prior to clipping, keeping palm-muted hits tight and defined.
  • Fast-Attack Noise Gate: Eliminates high-gain background hiss between rhythmic passages without sacrificing dynamic sustain.

2. Dual-Band Parallel Processing

To balance high-frequency bite with a solid low-end foundation, signals are split into targeted frequency bands:

  • High-Band Processing: Focuses purely on preamp saturation, mid-range crunch, and pick attack.
  • Low-Band Processing: Applies parallel compression to keep fundamental low frequencies locked and steady without muddying the main distortion path.

3. Cabinet & IR Matrix

Native impulse-response management removes the necessity for external IR loaders:

  • Multi-Mic Mixing: Blends dynamic and ribbon mic captures concurrently.
  • Phase Alignment: Ensures precise time alignment across microphone profiles to prevent frequency cancellation in dense mix environments.

DAW Integration & Tracking Workflow

  • Direct Parameter Access: Essential tone and utility controls reside on the main dashboard rather than hidden sub-menus.
  • Proper Gain Staging: Aligning incoming DI levels (typically between -12 and -6 dBFS) ensures accurate gate thresholds and optimal saturation response.
