Impact Soundworks Release Lamina Orchestral Textures – For Kontakt/Kontakt Player

Impact Soundworks have released Lamina Orchestral Textures, available for $99.00.

Lamina Orchestral Textures is full of movement, life, and real human creativity in every note. Featuring four orchestral wind and string sections recorded on a sound stage, performing improvised articulations that draw inspiration from how water ebbs and flows. This is not a sterile, over-polished library; it’s an immersive and interesting canvas of uniquely human performance. In addition to the orchestral main instrument,

Lamina Orchestral Textures also includes 25+ custom-designed textures created by a team of composers and sound designers using analog and digital outboard gear. The result is a truly inspiring collection of orchestra-based textures that drip with character and harmonic excitement.

Lamina Orchestral Textures is an inspiring alternative for cinematic composers who are burned out on bland, recycled, and overprocessed industry staples. There’s no need to overcompensate with excessively busy, complex melodies or over-layering when your foundation is an immersive and interesting canvas of inspiring human performance.

There are four distinct orchestral sections: High Winds, Low Winds, High Strings, and Low Strings. Each section is a curated ensemble of 4-5 musicians bringing their own expertise and imagination to their performances. You can load up to 4 organic layers with 2 articulations each. Activate all layers with two articulations for a total of 8 simultaneous performances on a single note, making chords massive and easily filling out full orchestral beds and textures. Limit the layers and you can explore the dynamic subtlety that each individual articulation offers.

The articulations are the heart and soul of this library. No sterile sustains or short articulations here; instead, we’ve recorded unique, improvised sounds inspired by the natural movements of flowing water. Their names are appropriately evocative: Ripples, Tides, Flares, and Drifts. The articulation movement and dynamics are subtle, engaging and invite the listener to lean in and feel the performance.

In addition to the orchestral main instrument, we worked with composers and sound designers to sculpt the original sounds into something new using analog and digital outboard gear and plugins. The result is a truly inspiring collection of intentionally designed, orchestra-based textures that drip with character and harmonic excitement. With this set of auxiliary instruments, Lamina Orchestral Textures bridges the gap between traditional orchestra and modern synthetics, making it as useful in a period piece as it is in a dystopian horror score.

Mix, match, pan, layer and add effects to these creative articulations and designed textures to craft a truly unique orchestral foundation in seconds. We built Lamina Orchestral Textures so we could spend more time composing and less time trying to get our samples to sound human. We hope it will become a beloved tool that you return to again and again.

Lamina Orchestral Textures is the brainchild of AviShai Dayanim, a young composer who brought his energy, brilliance, and fresh perspective to every step of the library. It was created in collaboration with performance students, recording arts students, and Music for New Media students from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, one of America’s oldest and most elite music institutions with a rich 150+ year history. This library combines the work of these extraordinary young creators with the experience and technical expertise of the Impact Soundworks team to create something new and inspiring at every turn.
