Destruktor is a boutique virtual instrument plugin that creates organic, cinematic sounds by using a prepared cello that has been sawn, drilled, chopped, and bowed.
The instrument was developed by taking an unplayable, damaged cello and subjecting it to various tools including chainsaws, hammers, and chisels to produce 88 unique, raw, and physical articulations.
Engineers recorded the sounds using a close stereo pair of Sennheiser MKH8020 microphones to capture high-frequency transients and maintain a detailed, in-the-room acoustic quality without excessive processing.
Features include 5 round robins per key, built-in effects such as distortion and pitch shifting, and a dice function that allows users to shuffle sounds for creative inspiration.
Destruktor is marketed as the intimate, aggressive string-based sibling to the company’s grand piano-based plugin, Preparist, and they are designed to be used together for complementary sonic palettes.
In addition to the plugin format, every purchase includes a bonus raw sample pack containing 440 WAV files that can be used directly in any DAW or sampler.
Destruktor is available to PC and Mac users (VST3 and AU).
