AudioKit Pro Update Super 606 Drums – Drum Machine

AudioKit Pro have updated Super 606 Drums – Drum Machine, available at the intro price of $4.99, increasing to $19.99 after the promotion.

What’s new in version 1.2:

  • LINK YOUR HATS: You can now link the Open and Closed Hi-Hats so Tune, Pan, Volume, and other settings stay matched. Find the new options by tapping the HAT header with the down arrow in the Tuner or Mixer panels.
  • NEW T-06 HI-HATS: A new hi-hat model inspired by a vintage 1981 unit. They have their own character, use even less CPU, and the synthesis code is open source too!
  • METRONOME? Yes! SUPER 606 now includes an optional metronome for Drum Pad recording in standalone mode
    • Turn it on in Standalone Options and choose from three different metronome sounds.
  • The original hardware didn’t have a metronome, but some of you really love metronomes, so here it is! When using SUPER 606 as an AUv3, simply use your host’s metronome.
  • MIDI TRANSPORT RECEIVE: Standalone can now receive MIDI Start/Stop. Turn it on to start, stop, and sync SUPER 606 with vour other MIDI gear. MIDI Note transport start/stop still works as well in AUv3 and standalone. This is to receive a pure MIDI transport signal that some aear sends.
  • MIDI OUT LOCK: MIDI Out settings are saved with each preset. Want to keep the same MIDI Out setup while browsing sounds? Tap the new Lock toggle and your MIDI Out choices will stay put.
  • AUv3 IMPROVEMENTS: The bottom Sequence Picker is now visible on iPad even when you’re not using the two-panel layout, and more.
  • MAJOR DSP OPTIMIZATIONS: We’ve been digging deep into the drum synthesis code
  • Up to 3x CPU performance improvement on some presets
  • T-06 Hi-Hats can save even more CPU compared with the original hat model
    • More DSP optimizations are already in progress, stay tuned!
  • MORE OPEN-SOURCE DSP! The optimized Clap and Hi-Hat svnthesis code, with roughly 2.5x to 3x performance improvements, has been added to the SUPER 606 open-source library.

If you are a fan of analog drum machines, vintage synth gear, or iOS music production, Super 606 Drums is an app that deserves a spot on your iPhone or iPad. Inspired by the classic hardware of the 1980s—specifically the iconic Roland TR-606 Drumatix—this app translates the unmistakable character of early analog drum synthesis into a modern, feature-packed mobile studio tool.

Rather than simply playing back static audio samples, Super 606 Drums utilizes synth-generated drums. This means the sound engines model the behavior, subtle pitch drift, and analog nuances of actual hardware synthesis, giving your beats organic movement and life.

To achieve that authentic analog feel, the app features all nine vintage 606-style flam types, alongside a traditional ahead-of-the-beat Flam mode and ratcheting substeps in 2x, 3x, and 4x options. Dedicated analog drift and humanization dials recreate the unpredictable warmth of physical circuits, while flexible timing options allow you to build complex grooves. You can set independent “Last Step” settings per track to craft evolving polyrhythms or switch between 16th, 32nd, and triplet grid modes on the fly. Upgraded synthesis models like the XL Kick Mode also deliver a beefed-up, melodic low-end alongside crisp, tuneable snares and metallic percussion.

For mobile producers using Logic Pro for iPad, AUM, Cubasis, or GarageBand, Super 606 fits effortlessly into professional setups. Full AUv3 support provides mobile host transport sync, complete state recall, and eight individual drum track outputs for granular mixing with third-party audio effects. Synchronization across devices is seamless thanks to support for MIDI Clock, Ableton Link, AUv3, or internal transport. To add human feel to your patterns, the app incorporates classic Roger Linn-inspired MPC swing, which can be dialed in globally or tailored per individual drum track.

Super 606 includes a standalone Magic Pattern Generator and Smart Fills tool. Running completely offline on your device without cloud processing or data collection, it analyzes your existing beat to generate context-aware fills, FX profiles, and complete grooves with a single tap.

When you’re ready to move your project to a desktop DAW or share it with collaborators, export options are fast and flexible. You can export multitrack WAV stems, full stereo master mixes, or sequence MIDI files fully mapped to Roland Cloud TR-606 default CC assignments. For quick ideas, you can also record live performances directly to high-quality audio files right inside the app.

Features include:

  • Synth-Generated Engine: Real-time analog modeling with pitch drift and humanization controls.
  • Authentic Sequencing: Features 9 606-style flams, substeps (2x, 3x, 4x), triplets, and per-track polyrhythms.
  • Pro Integration: AUv3 format with 8 individual outputs, Ableton Link, and MIDI Clock sync.
  • Groove Control: Roger Linn-inspired MPC swing, adjustable globally or per track.
  • Smart Workflow: On-device Magic Pattern Generator and instant WAV stem or MIDI export
