Modern DAWs are brilliant for editing, but they are built around grids, quantizing, and rigid event buffers. Most MIDI sequencers give you note grids, velocity curves, and endless options to tweak individual Continuous Controller (CC) parameters.
MIDI Tape Recorder intentionally gives you none of that.
Instead, it functions like a traditional 4-track tape machine. It captures raw MIDI messages in real time with sample-accurate timing. Whatever note data, pitch bend, pressure, or CC movements you send into it are recorded and played back exactly as they occurred—without grid forcing, micro-shifting, or event quantization.
