What’s new in version 7.15:
- Time Scrub Module
- The new Time Scrub module is an audio delay that lets you jump to any point in its tempo-synced buffer using Position.
- Sync parameter defines the buffer length using tempo-synced values from 1/64 to 4 bars, including triplet and dotted options.
- Position parameter selects where to read within the buffer: at -100%, the output is delaved by the full Sync duration, while at 0%. it follows the live input
- Modulating Position changes the playback speed. Ramping from -100% to 0% speeds up the audio, while ramping from 0% to -100% can slow down, hold, or reverse playback.
- Stepped modulation can create beat repeats.
- With Position held steady, playback stays at 1x.
- The Rate readout displays the playback rate resulting from Position movement
- Factory Patches: Added “Time Origami” and “Repeat Rush” to the Audio FX folder, demonstrating how the Time Scrub module can be used for playback speed changes and beat repeats.
- Factory Patches: Added “Tape Stop” to the Audio FX folder, demonstrating how Note Event can trigger a tape-stop effect using Time Scrub
- Time Scrub is a Mela Lab module and part of Collection 5.
- Musical Keyboard
- Added the Scroll Lock button, bringing back the behaviours available before Mela 5.1.
- When enabled, sliding between notes plays the keys under the fingers.
- When disabled, the keyboard scrolls horizontally while holding notes.
- Octave Up and Down buttons now dim and become disabled at the corresponding edge.
- Fixed missing plus signs and incorrect octave values at the end of the keyboard,
- Fixed an issue on iOS 27 where keys would only trigger notes after sliding a finger.
- Other Changes
- Mod Steps: MIDI mode now more accurately displavs the value produced when modulating velocity and CC parameters.
- Vel-to-Amp: Range is now bipolar from -60 to +60 dB, allowing higher velocities ta be quieter than lower velocities.
- Pitch-to-Amp: The module graduated from Mela Lab and can now be found under the Audio Processor category.
- Matrix: The module graduated from Mela Lab and can now be found under the Signal Router category
- Factory Patches: Added “Classic Trance” to the Leads folder.
- Remote Views: Fixed layout issues across different control configurations.
Mela is a modular music-making tool that scales with your needs. With its intuitive interface, you can seamlessly build fully custom polyphonic synthesisers, unique audio effects, and complex MIDI processors. Mela can run as a standalone app on iOS and macOS or as an AUv3 plug-in inside your favourite DAW such as AUM, Drambo, Logic Pro and many more.
In Mela, presets are constructed using modules arranged on lanes, where signals flowing through the lanes are processed by the modules. Audio and MIDI signals can be sent and received to and from the host or routed between lanes using internal buses. Modulator modules can target any module parameter on any lane. Lanes and modules are easily added, removed, or rearranged, allowing you to design presets as simple or complex as needed. Mela comes with 76 modules, with new ones added with every update. The following are some examples from different categories.
Mela can be loaded inside a host as one of the following plug-in types: Instrument, Audio Effect or MIDI Processor. The only difference is the number of audio and MIDI inputs and outputs. Otherwise, the features are identical, and a preset created in one type can be opened by another.
Modules are organised into collections. Collection 0 is free, allowing you to test out Mela’s features. Other collections can be purchased via in-app purchases. The following is a list of all modules.
