The latest drop in the AURAS project, Eria was forged from a misadventure into an obsession-inducing, obscure keyboard’s vocal synthesis engine. Driven by the goal to turn standard synthetic speech into an expressive ‘robot choir’ thing, about a month into the process I came to a bit of a standstill because the initial results were…not what I wanted.
Forgive me for the description here, I’m going to need to use a lot of ‘quote things’ to try and get across the idea because it’s all a bit abstract. While that’s the point of the whole library, it’s probably annoying to read so I apologize in advance.
Anyways…
To bring more of a true emotion and movement to the sound, every word from the keyboard was re-recorded through about half a dozen iterations to find the best combination of ‘voice moments’, injecting deliberate randomness into the phrase start points and varying the reproduction speed of individual word ‘fragments’. To give the choir real depth, these ‘organic synthetic phrases’ were then layered with generated vocal waveforms, yielding a hybrid texture that bridges a ‘human’ character with more mechanical precision.
The foundation of Eria is built on the familiar AURAS dual-layer engine, allowing you to seamlessly blend two distinct sonic characters or combinations of the two flavors of vocal synthesis. By pairing the vocal synth phrase fragments with smooth generated synth waves, you can easily shift between delicate, fragmented syllables and lush, sprawling choral-like pads
To further elevate the synthetic voice engine, I’ve included a custom set of impulse responses. Designed to act as both tonal shapers and spatial environments, these IRs place the robotic vocal signals into acoustic spaces and more ethereal voids.
Eria ships with 31 handcrafted presets designed to showcase the full range of the library. From the unstable, flickering words to thick, evolving cybernetic choir walls. It features the signature, intuitive AURAS engine, offering immediate control over dynamics, filtering, and expression.
As with every release in the AURAS project, Eria is available for absolutely free and optimized for efficiency, packing cinematic power into a lightweight footprint of under 180MB.
