TED-8 is a virtual instrument that serves as a detailed replica of the Oberheim TEO-5 hardware synthesizer, created through thousands of individual measurements and performance comparisons.
The plugin replicates the hardware’s exact sound, including subtle imperfections like voice variations, while offering expanded capabilities such as 8 voices, a Poly Unison mode supporting 48 concurrent voices, and a 16-slot modulation matrix.
Functioning as a bridge between software and hardware, TED-8 can operate as a standalone DAW plugin or serve as an editor and librarian for the physical TEO-5 unit via USB connection.
It features a faithful recreation of the original front panel controls, including two oscillators, a SEM-style state-variable filter, dual LFOs, dual envelopes, and an arpeggiator and sequencer.
The integrated effects section mirrors the hardware’s capabilities with twelve effect types such as delays, phaser, flanger, and distortion, alongside a specialized reverb unit for depth.
TED-8 is available to PC, Mac and Linux users (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX and standalone).
