Give the kick room in the bass, or let a voice through the music. Control frequency-selective reduction with a separate sidechain signal.
SL Unmask makes room for one track inside another. Insert it on the track that needs to step back, then send a separate priority track to its sidechain input.
For kick and bass, insert Unmask on the bass and feed the kick into the sidechain. It reduces overlapping frequencies in the bass as the kick plays. For voice and music, insert it on the music track or music bus and feed the separate voice track into the sidechain. The direct voice stays on its own track.
Adjust Amount, Focus, Attack, Release, Smooth and Mix. Limit processing with Low Frequency and High Frequency. Compare the main signal, sidechain and reduction in the spectrum display. SC Listen lets you check the incoming sidechain signal. Eight factory presets provide starting points. Maximum Reduction and optional Voice Duck give you control over stronger processing.
SL Unmask is an audio effect. It does not extract vocals or separate stems from a finished stereo file. External sidechain support depends on the host and its routing capabilities. The standalone app does not automatically monitor the built-in microphone through the speakers.
SL Unmask is available to PC, Mac and iOS users (VST3, AU, AUv3 and standalone).
