Bunker Samples have released Bunker Perc, the sound of a Cold War bomb shelter bunker in Copenhagen, Denmark, turned underground recording studio. Bunker Perc is available at the intro price of $29.00, increasing to $49.00 after the promotion.
Door slams, lock zings and handles turning all with round robins and mapped in Bunker Samples new percussion engine to create a highly unique, fully customizable percussion instrument. It also comes with all the wav files, for your enjoyment and endless sonic experimentation.
The bunker is where Bunker Samples was borne: a civilian bomb shelter in Copenhagen constructed at the end of WWII. After the Cold War the city started renting them out, and many musicians jumped on the chance to have a dead quiet underground studio, albeit with no toilet facilities, heat or indeed running water. Nevertheless it was the birthplace of Bunker Samples, and where Bunker Strings Vol. 1 and 2 was recorded.
Unfortunately, the bunker is no more (as a recording studio at least), but Bunker Samples managed to capture a sonic memory of it, that have now become Bunker Perc. It is in a sense a sampling of the bunker itself, the many sounds that it makes, the sounds of the doors slamming, locks opening, metal blast door handles falling into place, all housed in the new PERC engine, giving you endless sound sculpting options. If you want classic epic drums played by masters, sampled with a million microphones in expensive concert halls, this is not the library for you. But if you want the opposite of that, something that’s damp, smells like a cellar and makes you carry your own damn water for the coffee machine, then Bunker Perc might just be for you.
Bunker Perc consists of all the original, unprocessed sounds as well as a big collection of processed sounds made from the original recordings. Best of all, you not only get these sounds ready to play in the PERC engine, you also get them as wav files in a seperate folder, round robins and all, so you can do with them what you want.
The defining ethos of the new percussion engine, is to let you mess with things on a per-sound basis. Play a sound, and get straight to editing it. Pitch it, filter it, place it anywhere in the room, EQ, add punch – whatever you do to it, will only affect that sound. Play another sound, repeat, and in minutes you will have your own kit of sounds never heard before, beautifully placed in the same room, front-to-back, left-to-right, thanks to the new placement grid (ok, so it’s a fancy reverb send control, but it works very well!).
The sounds:
- Original unprocessed (21 sounds – 2 to 9 rr)
- Low booms (9 sounds – 2 to 4 rr)
- Low hits (10 sounds – 4 to 5 rr)
- Mid hits (18 sounds – 4 to 5 rr)
- High hits (16 sounds – 4 to 7 rr)
- Impacts (9 sounds – 4 to 6 rr)
Features include:
- 389 samples
- 573 MB uncompressed Wav files
- 240 MB lossless compressed size
- 83 * 2 articulations (hits + reverses)
- 12 instrument patches
Bunker Perc requires a full version of Kontakt 6.7.1 or later.
