Rhythmic Robot have released PATCHVAULT MKS-80, a taste of Roland’s Jupiter 8, available for €12.80 + tax.
It often gets called a Jupiter 8 in a box, but there’s more to the SuperJupiter MKS-80 than just a rackmount version of Roland’s flagship polysynth. Various revisions and some tweaks to the filter circuit yield a monster of a sound machine that is, in many ways, the crowning glory of Roland’s analogue era. (Next – the D50, another gamechanger; but that was still in the future…)
Rhythmic Robot’s PatchVault version of the MKS-80 recreates all 64 original factory patches in sublime detail: sweet soaring strings, throaty brass sections, awesome filter sweeps and swirls, tight basses, and some gleaming bell, tine and chime patches too (plus loads more – drums, pianos and EPs, lead tones – it’s very cool!). Everything’s ready-rolled and happy to be layered, tweaked or sculpted with the usual set of versatile PatchVault controls; and best of all, it’s just 20 cents per patch!
PATCHVAULT MKS-80 requires a full version of Kontakt 4.2.3 or later.
