Earcandy Release Quondam

Earcandy have released Quondam, available for €24.00.

What if an old Mac decided to make a baby with a Synclavier? Well .. The result could very well be Quondam.

This Library is as digital as they come but with a few additions up its sleeve – some of them to warm things up a little.

Earcandy started off on an old Apple Macintosh running System 7 making some samples using a marvelous piece of dinosaur software: Digidesign’s Turbosynth from 1988. They then sampled these into a Synclavier, resynthesized the samples, looped and programmed everything on some more modern computers using a multitude of applications and devices.

Weird? Yes it is. How does it sound? Wonderful – just wonderful.

Earcandy decided to pair the raw samples with some nice filters to soften the digital samples up a little, and even included a Convolution Reverb giving you 15 hand picked reverb shapes licensed from a professional library to use when working with the built in programs. Speaking of programs Earcandy decided to make every possible combination of the original 14 samples available resulting in 105 programs.

On top of that Earcandy added 50 programs based on these combinations allowing you to hear what the possibilities are and to show you just how much variation you can get from these original 14 samples using the knobs and switches.

Features include:

  • 1.31 GB samples
772.5 MB download in .zip format
  • 1232 samples
  • 64 programs
  • 96 kHz/24 bit

Quondam requires a full version of Kontakt 6 or later.
