Impact Soundworks have released Handbells, available for $69.00.
A particularly gorgeous set of vintage Schulmerich handbells with a full three-octave range, plus nearly two octaves of handchimes.
Rather than a stereotypical booming hall or church, these were recorded in an intimate studio space so you can add as much or as little reverb as you like. The resulting sound is warm, articulate, and crystal-clear, with astonishing versatility.
Features include:
- Two mic positions in a studio space – Pristine 24-bit 48kHz samples recorded with Neumann U87 Condenser (mono) and a stereo pair of QTC30s. Customize your mic blend or choose between full stereo and full mono.
- 3 octaves of handbells and 2 octaves of chimes – The handbell choir ranges from C4 through C7; the church chimes range from G#4 through F#6.
- 2 damping styles – Toggle between shoulder damping (immediate stop) or thumb damping (more gradual stop).
- Nearly 5000 samples – Natural variation even on repeated notes thanks to up to 10 round robins per key and articulation.
- All key handbell playing techniques – Six articulations: Sustain, Martele (similar to a marimba tone), Martele Lift (more resonant), Mallet, Mallet Muted, Pluck.
Handbells requires the free or full version of Kontaky 7.10.7 or later.
