The Softube Bus Processor 670 is a modern digital emulation of the legendary dual-channel variable-mu tube compressor, designed to bring the distinctive weight, warmth, and authority of the original hardware into contemporary production workflows.
This plug-in captures the essence of the rare and expensive 670, originally used as a mastering limiter for vinyl, and enhances it with added controls for saturation, spatialization, and flexible sidechain features, allowing for a modern, adaptable sound.
Variable-mu compression, a key characteristic of the 670, dynamically alters the gain ratio using tubes, resulting in harmonically rich and musical compression that is ideal for gluing mixes together with analog warmth and cohesion.
Softube has meticulously recreated the original’s magic while incorporating innovative features such as dedicated knobs for tube and transformer saturation, a calibration knob for compression-dependent saturation, and advanced sidechain options including filters, tone shift, and M/S channel outputs.
The Bus Processor 670 is designed for a modern workflow, offering an enhanced user experience with features like an air band, mono maker, and stereo widening, and is also compatible with Softube’s Console 1 and Flow Studio mixing systems.
