Sonixinema have reduced the price of their Intimate Legato – Cello library for Kontakt, now only $55.00, (usually $69.00). The offer ends May 12th.
Recording the Intimate Legato: Cello library was something that Sonixinema have been planning for some time, in order to explore a new method of capturing legato instruments. Whilst this method only involved some minor tweaks to how Sonixinema did it in previous libraries, Sonixinema think the end result features a massive improvement in both playability and the overall realism of the library – something which is a hard balance to strike when sampling an instrument with a complex sound like the cello. After months of testing and getting feedback from Sonixinema’s team and fellow composers, Sonixinema think this library has evolved into something truly special. Whilst most string libraries require a lot of tweaking using the mod wheel, expression and other parameters to make it sound natural, this library sounds fantastic out of the box – you can simply start playing and create incredibly natural, emotional and intimate melodic lines and phrases.
To capture the rich and delicate tone of the cello, Sonixinema teamed up with Nicholas Trygstad, who is the leader of the cellos for the Hallé Orchestra and an all around fantastic musician. To capture the beautiful tone of Nicholas’ 18th Century Cello, Sonixinema decided to choose a small church hall, to get both an up close and personal sound, but also capture the wonderful reflections and space that the hall had to offer. Sonixinema captured 4 microphone positions, which are all controllable either individually, or simultaneously using the proximity fader. Sonixinema also created a custom mix which can be used to get an instant mix without the need to tweak the microphone positions. Inspired by modern film scores, this library is perfect for soaring, emotional scores as well as dark, soulful and intimate melodies.
