Cem Olcay has reduced the price of PolyBud, SnakeBud, LoopBud and MelodyBud for a limited time, each is now only $5.99, (usually $6.99).
PolyBud
PolyBud is a multitrack polyrhythmic AUv3 MIDI sequencer. You can add multiple note or MIDI CC tracks to the each pattern. The note tracks has the note, velocity, gate, ratchet, probability and randomisation modes. You can set different step lengths to the each mode which would introduce polyrhythmic variations immediately.
Another great feature is the each track can run in a different rate which is great for creating unique polyrhythmic sequences. Also, you can assign different MIDI channels to the each track so that you can control multiple synths within a single PolyBud pattern.
The MIDI CC tracks is great for modulating the synth parameters. You can introduce polyrhythmic modulations by setting the different step lengths and different rates to your MIDI CC tracks. Also, you can set a ramp value for smoothing up the CC value changes per step. If you set the ramp value to 0% then you can have the classic sample and hold modulation.
PolyBud is a MIDI app and it don’t produce any sound of its own. You need to route PolyBud’s MIDI out to your audio apps in order to run PolyBud. For the AUv3 plugin, you need an AUv3 host app such as AUM, Cubase, NanoStudio, ZenBeats, BeatMaker, apeMatrix etc.
SnakeBud
SnakeBud is a 16-step AUv3 MIDI Sequencer with a 4×4 grid. You can set the note, gate, velocity and probability values for each step and you can also toggle them on/off.
It has 56 snake patterns for the sequencing on a 2-dimensional grid which differentiates it from the one directional sequencers. You can get 56 different sequences within the same grid.
SnakeBud has a music theory engine with 40+ scales which can be changed from the settings menu. You can lock the notes in a scale and you can change the scale even when the sequencer is running.
With the randomiser, you can randomise the notes, the snake pattern or all parameters at once.
You can save the current state in a pattern and create as many patterns as you want by pressing the plus button in the patterns section on the bottom-left side of the screen.
You can use SnakeBud as a modulation source with the MIDI CC sequencer. Just route its MIDI CC Output to your synth app and modulate their parameters with MIDI CC sequencer.
The AUv3 plugin exposes more than 90 Audio Unit parameters. You can control them or even automate them with the supported audio unit host apps such as AUM, Cubase, apeMatrix.
The standalone version of SnakeBud supports Ableton Link.
SnakeBud does not produce sound itself, it’s a MIDI app and requires an audio app in order to work. Just route the SnakeBud MIDI output to the audio app’s MIDI input and arm the sequencer.
LoopBud
LoopBud is a super simple yet very powerful MIDI recorder and looper. You can work with unlimited patterns. Although the 4-bar loops are very fun, you can work with an unlimited number of bars on each pattern!
LoopBud has two record modes, Add mode and New mode. The “add mode” keeps adding new notes on each loop-cycle. The “new mode” clears out the previous recording and lets you record freshly on each cycle. You can work very fast with those modes. If you make a mistake, don’t worry, you can use the “undo” option and get everything back!
LoopBud has quantization enabled by default. You can toggle quantizing by pressing the “quantize” button on the top-left side. You can also set the level of quantization from the settings menu.
If you want to speed up or slow down the clock, you can do so by pressing the “clock” button on the top-left side. You can achieve different effects on your live performances without a new recording.
You can also focus on a single bar by pressing the bar measure on the top. You can either record or loop a single bar – which is a unique feature of LoopBud.
In the settings menu, you can edit the piano roll’s lowest and highest notes. The notes on the piano roll is not editable. However, you can export MIDI from the settings menu, and do editing on your favorite piano roll editor app!
LoopBud is not an audio app, it’s a MIDI app. You need to connect a MIDI input and a MIDI output for LoopBud to work. You can do so from the settings menu in the standalone app. You can use the MIDI matrix editor on your DAW if you are using the AUv3 plugin. LoopBud also supports Ableton Link on the standalone app.
MelodyBud
MelodyBud is an AUv3 MIDI sequencer with great generative sequencing capabilities. Instead of a traditional sequencer, you can randomise your notes, velocity, octave, and gate length of your steps, add ratchets and glide to make it more interesting!
One of the most powerful feature of MelodyBud is “parameter-locking”. With parameter-locks, you can set a step’s randomisation values individually. That lets you create richer melodies. For entering the parameter-locking mode, you can simply tap a step’s number on the top of the sequencer. The step and the control knobs turn orange when you enter the parameter-locking mode. If you edit a control when you are in the parameter-lock mode, the sequencer will execute that configuration for that step instead of the global configuration. You can tap the step’s number again for exiting the parameter-lock mode.
You can work in more than 40 scales, you can even change them while the sequencer is running. With the AUv3 plugin, you can change them with the AU parameters and even modulate/automate them along with other parameters.
The standalone version supports Ableton Link which lets you in-sync with other Ableton Link enabled apps.
MelodyBud is a MIDI app and it does not produce any audio or sound on its own. You need to route its MIDI out to another audio app in order to sequence it and getting sound off of it.
