Acoustic Samples are immensely proud to present Harpicordo [old Italian for ‘Harpsichord’]; one of the most extraordinary and significant instruments in musical history. This particular model is a 2005 17th Century Flemish School recreation (Ruckers) by the world-renowned Ateliers Marc Ducornet, Paris, to whom we are indebted for kindly allowing us to record their one-of-a-kind instrument.
Harpicordo is unlike anything Acoustic Samples have created before. Having used Harpsichord voice settings on digital keyboards for many years, they felt that there weren’t any which faithfully captured the full beauty of this exquisite instrument, and so their goal was to recreate the raw sound, the warm resonances and the gritty imperfections in all their glory and detail, so that when you sit and play it for the first time, you can simply close your eyes and truly feel like you’re playing the real thing.

Harpicordo is not just another static virtual harpsichord. Every pluck, vibration, release, resonance and extraneous noise was recorded in extreme detail, which Acoustic Samples combined with state-of-the-art modelling techniques to create a living instrument with a hyper-realistic response.
This particular instrument (a 17th century Flemish replica) offers dual-manual control with four stops which can be controlled seamlessly in real time. Acoustic Samples went to great lengths to capture and re-create the natural resonance of the body of the instrument, offering an unparalleled authentic sound.
Everything in the instrument is customizable, from the microphone positions and reverb settings all the way to the tuning of each note and the volume of the keys hitting the keybed.
Included in the instrument are a number of famous historical tuning systems to choose from, offering different colours and characters depending on the key you’re playing in. Or if you prefer, you can create your own tuning system and save it as a preset.
No need for keyswitches, no need for different articulation patches; simply load up the instrument and play, all within 400Mb.
