The ab Encoder MS plugin by Audio Brewers is designed to efficiently convert Mid/Side (MS) and Double Mid/Side (DMS) audio recordings directly into First-Order Ambisonics (1OA) without compromising spatial detail, a common issue when first decoding to stereo.
This plugin preserves the original width, directionality, and depth captured by microphones by working natively with MS signals and encoding them straight to 1OA, eliminating the need for complex matrixing or routing.
It supports various MS configurations, including 2-channel (Mid/Side), 3-channel (Front Mid/Side/Rear Mid), and 4-channel (Front Mid/Side/Rear Mid/Redundant Side) inputs, and is compatible with DAWs supporting 4 or more audio channels.
Featuring a troubleshooting algorithm and an included visualizer, the ab Encoder MS ensures signal integrity and provides users with a straightforward workflow for preparing immersive audio for VR, Dolby Atmos, and other spatial applications.
