Victorien Genna Releases Pond – For IPadOS

Victorien Genna has released Pond, available for $7.99.

Pond is a ripple sequencer for iPad, built on one idea: drop a stone in the water and let the wave play the notes. Every cell holds a note; when a ripple’s wave front crosses it, it sounds. Where you tap and how the waves overlap — that’s the composition.

Tap the water and watch a wave play your notes. A calm, generative MIDI sequencer with a built-in synth also an AUv3 plugin for AUM, Logic and Cubasis.

Every cell of the pond is a note. Tap anywhere and a ripple expands from your finger; as its wave front crosses each cell, that sounds. Where note you tap, what notes you’ve planted, and how the waves overlap becomes the music. Tap with several fingers for several waves Hold a finger still and you plant an emitter: a spring that keeps dripping ripples in time, on its own.

It plays better than it has any right to. Generate a fresh pond in any of nine scales and a key of your choosing, set an octave range, paint notes by hand with the floating paint bar, and let it on wave run. Turn interference and the ripples behave like real water: overlapping crests olay louder, a crest meeting a trough plays softer or cancels to silence so the dynamics emerge from the physics, and you can see them bloom in the
water.
