discoDSP have updated Retromulator, available for $19.99.
What’s new in version 2.0:
- Boards: a control panel under the rack for 15 cores, with knobs, faders, switches and value lists on pages laid out like the hardware sections. Boards follow patch loads, incoming MIDI and host automation.
- Boards are available for the Virus A, B and C, Virus TI, Nord Lead 2X, JP-8000, microQ, Microwave XT, DX7, Matrix-1000, OPL3, SID, Ayumi, OpenB3, Wurlitzer, Akai S1000 and the SC series.
- The board and the on-screen keyboard can be shown or hidden from the bank menu. On iPhone the board takes the keyboard’s place.
- Hold a board control to link it to one of the 128 host parameters. Links are saved per core and in the project.
- NRPN input, enabled per core, sets the core’s own parameters.
- The core can be selected over MIDI with SysEx F0 7D 52 4D 01 cc F7 or NRPN 127/0.
- MIDI out for board edits and for the core’s own output, both optional. The AUv3 sends them to the host. The standalone app sends them to a MIDI output device and channel chosen in the None core menu, so a board can edit external hardware.
- Editor Only, in the bank menu of each core with a board: the board runs without the sound engine, and without firmware, to edit the original synth over MIDI out. The Firmware Not Found dialog also offers Use as Editor.
- The core menu is grouped into Virtual Analog, Analog, Wavetable, FM, Chip, Keyboard, and Sampler & GM.
- Fixed extra latency on the SID core when it was selected from the core menu.
Legendary synths, samplers and keyboards reborn through cvcle-accurate emulation. Now on iphone and iPad with native AUv3 support
Retromulator is a multi-core retro hardware emulatior app and AUv3 plug-in that brings legendary synthesizer, sampler, and keyboard cores back to life through authentic low-level emulation. Each core runs its actual firmware, physical model, or sample data — delivering the unmistakable character of the hardware that defined electronic music from the early 80s through the 2000s
Virtual Analog Synths (Motorola DSP 56300 recreation, interpreter mode) – built on the open- source Gearmulator by the dsp56300 team:
DISCLAIMER: Apple’s iOS App Store does not allow Just-In-Time (JIT) code generation in third-party apps. As a result, the DSP 56300 cores run in pure interpreter mode, which is significantly slower than the desktop JIT version. Expect higher CPU usage reduced polyphony, and limited multi-timbral capability compared to the desktop edition. A modern device (A14 / M1 or newer) is recommended for the DSP-based cores. Even on an M1 / A16-class chip, a hiah audio buffer size (high-latency setting) is required and polyphony remains very limited – these cores are not intended for low-latency live performance on iOS.
