Pulsar Modular Release P252 MDN Diode

Pulsar Modular have released P252 MDN Diode, available for $19.99 (iOS) and $164.00 (desktop).

Nearly two years in development, the P252 MDN Diode is a mobile plugin (and standalone app) modeled after rare germanium diode-bridge compressors. Diode-bridge compression is famous in audio history for its unique dynamic signature: rather than feeling transparent or clinical, it adds thick harmonic coloration, smooth control, and a distinct punch to anything that passes through it.

By bringing this classic analog architecture to desktop and iOS, Pulsar Modular allows producers to insert vintage analog character into modern PC, Mac, iPad and iPhone digital audio workstations (DAWs).

P252 MDN Diode goes far beyond basic peak limiting. It provides a deep set of controls designed to emulate real-world transformer behavior, dynamic timing, and circuit saturation:

  • Program-Dependent Compression: Captures the nonlinear response of germanium diodes, reacting naturally to the complexity of your audio source.
  • Flexible Sidechain Topologies: Switch between Feed-Forward (FF) for tight, aggressive control and Feed-Backward (FB) for smoother, vintage-style compression. It also supports an external sidechain input.
  • Transformer Voicings: Toggle between STOCK and DRIVE modes, or adjust weight using NORM and HEFT modes to tune low-end impact.
  • High-End Air & Analog Floor: Includes an AIR switch to lift high-frequency clarity and a 3-way analog noise floor toggle to recreate realistic physical circuit behavior.
  • Ratios & Modes: Range from a gentle 2:1 ratio up to Limit, alongside a dedicated Linear mode.
  • Smart Workflow Tools: Features built-in MATCH gain compensation for unbiased A/B comparison, touch-friendly linked controls (Threshold/Trim Out, Trim In/Out), dual gain reduction meters, and vintage Simpson-style VU metering.

P252 MDN Diode is available to PC, Mac and iOS users (VST3, AU, AAX and AUv3).
