Bunker Samples have released Dan T’rung, available at the intro price of $25.00, increasing to $29.00 after the promotion. The offer ends February 28th.
The T’rung is a traditional Vietnamese mallet instrument made from bamboo, deeply rooted in ancient rituals and nature, and now meticulously sampled for the first time as a virtual instrument by Bunker Samples.
Unlike its pentatonic ancient predecessors, the modern T’rung, as sampled, is fully chromatic with a range of over three octaves, offering a bright, punchy, yet also gentle and earthy sound suitable for various musical genres.
Bunker Samples captured the T’rung’s bright hits and rolls with detailed sampling, including four dynamic layers and four round robins for hits, and three dynamic layers for rolls, ensuring butter-smooth crossfading and expressive performance.
The virtual instrument features an intuitive interface with flexible articulation switching via keyswitches, hotkeys, or MIDI CC, allowing seamless transitions between hits and rolls, and offers independent ADSR controls for hits, rolls, and rubs.
This collection, performed by Vietnamese musician Phan Thuy and sampled in Hanoi, provides composers with a unique sound that evokes nature and ancient cultures, capable of adding distinctive character to mixes or even replacing orchestral xylophones.
