Daniel McKemie Updates Raw Bite Audio Machine

Daniel McKemie has updated Raw Bite Audio Machine, available for $0.99. The update is FREE to existing users.

What’s new in version 1.1:

AUv3 instrument compatibility added.

  • The AUv3 plugin runs at the host’s sample rate (typically 44.1 or 48kHz) while keeping t advancing at a fixed 8kHz internally.
  • The standalone runs the engine at its selected sample rate (8kHz by default) and lets iOS upsample to the device’s hardware rate.
  • Both are mathematically valid renderings of the same signal: a deterministic integer sequence produced at 8kHz. The standalone is that sequence after additional iOS filtering; the AUv3 is that sequence reconstructed with minimal coloration. The AUv3 will sound slightly brighter and crisper as a result.

Standalone and AUv3 supported. Generate sound from raw byte operations. A minimal, hands-on synthesizer for experimental audio and live performance.

The Raw Byte Audio Machine allows the user to operate on a constant sawtooth wave that is calculated against the assigned sample rate and bit- depth. With each sample, the counter “t” increments by 1. Your expression is evaluated and the lowest bits become a PCM audio sample. Expressions allow for binary arithmetic like addition, subtraction, division, and modulo; and bitwise operations like AND/OR/NOT and bit shifting. With these combinations of tools, a single expression can vield tremendous musical results in complex rhythms, harmonies, and melodies, all while operating on a single sawtooth wave Operates as a standalone app or AUv3 instrument plugin.
